Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then located many other marked vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A senior representative commented the incident made him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
